Virgil Abloh dies at the age of 41
The successful fashion designer suffered from a rare and particularly aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma, a cardiac tumor. He leaves behind two children Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh, as well as his wife Shannon Abloh, his sister and his parents.
His work in the fashion and art world is unparalleled. He inspired thousands of people with his skill and ambition and pushed culture forward like few before him. With the announcement of his death, his wife shared some words about her husband with the public:
“Through it all, his work ethic, infinite curiosity, and optimism never wavered. Virgil was driven by his dedication to his craft and to his mission to open doors for others and create pathways for greater equality in art and design. He often said, “Everything I do is for the 17-year-old version of myself,” believing deeply in the power of art to inspire future generations.”
Virgil Abloh’s legacy is synonymous with ambition. He paved the way for many, inspired the youth to do the unthinkable and pushed culture forward. He’s a legend to us. Rest in peace!
