Rhude Spring/Summer ’21

Luxury brand Rhude takes on popular hiphop influences and embraces the culture for its Spring/Summer 2022 collection. Founder Rhuigi Villaseñor presented the latest collection of his popular brand in front of the biggest rap stars in the U.S. and one of them even walked the catwalk for the crowning finale.

It’s not the first time Villaseñor has incorporated his love for hiphop into his work. For Rhude’s very first fashion campaign, the designer secured a top star of the culture.

French Montana, Saweetie, Big Sean, Karrueche Tran, Tyga and many many more. All the big names in hiphop were in Los Angeles this weekend for Rhude’s SS22 show.

The motto of Villaseñor’s show was “Monaco, with God’s help” and they kept to it. Everything was held in the style of the 70’s and had a certain gangster flair.

Style-wise, it was somewhere between The Godfather and Scarface. Two films that have become as much a part of hiphop culture as breakdancing and streetwear.

So was not surprising that not only half of the audience consisted of hiphop superstars.  The culture was also given proper love on the catwalk. So super producer Metro Boomin was the last model to conclude the evening.

He showcased a satin jacket with different patches called The Casino Royale Souvenir Jacket. A mixture of glamour and street.

A Rhude Awakening

Rhude Boys For Hiphop

Rhude’s first fashion campaign already had a hiphop superstar as its front face: Future. Villañor and the “Life Is Good” rapper share a long friendship. Among other things, the designer was responsible for the merch for Future’s album “The Wzrd”, back in 2019.

Even seasoned luxury brands like Louis Vuitton are relying more and more on hiphop influences and models straight out of the culture. For example, 21 Savage recently modeled for a new collection by the prestigious brand.
