The new Prada x adidas Luna Rossa 21 Performance is something else
Prada x adidas
Prada and adidas are continuing their cooperation. Now the new P + A Luna Rossa 21 Performance was presented in two fresh colorways. Following the December release of its white predecessor, fans now get another shot at the sought-after shoe.
Although one of them is extremely limited.
P + A Luna Rossa 21 Performance
The latest grey version of the joint Luna Rossa is a true rarity. In total, there are be only 200 pairs. These will be sold exclusively through the Highsnobiety online shop.
The Luna Rossa 21 Performance is supposed to be a one-to-one match of what the Prada-Pirelli sailing team, including Max Sirena, wears on their feet. This results in more subtle deviations from the white colorway. Not only has the insole been taken out to reduce the weight of the shoe, but there are also small holes at the bottom of the shoe which allow water to drain away.
Although this version of the shoes should be just as wearable, it is aimed more at collectors because of the scarcity.
“People underestimate the importance of footwear, but in reality, shoes are key, because you spend most of the time on your feet. When you’re sailing this type of boat and you’re going at 50 knots, to maneuver from one side to the other, you need good grip,” said Sirena.
If you could not get your hands on the grey version of the shoe, there is no reason for despair. On July 19, another black version of the shoe is scheduled to be released.
Both versions of the shoes will run you €550, or $695 respectively. Each pair will come with a water-resistant bag and a co-branded box.
Luxurious Sneaker
It is not particularly surprising that Prada and Adidas are now making moves again. Just recently, Nike and Louis Vuitton unveiled new versions of their joint Air Force 1’s.
And if that wasn’t enough, we can also expect a bunch of Off White x Nike Dunk Lows shortly. Virgil Abloh lately announced he would be releasing a total of 50 color variations of the collaboration.
But adidas is not sleeping either. In March, they pulled off a superb coup when they signed arguably the biggest German rap star of the current era: Capital Bra.
