The PlayStation PG5s

Nike and PlayStation team up again to launch a joint sneaker. This time it’s the latest version of the PG5, the signature Nike shoe of basketball star Paul George.

The new shoe comes in PlayStation 5 design and has now received the first trailer.

Paul George x PlayStation x Nike

The new PG5 is the latest collaboration between Nike and PlayStation. The shoe is scheduled to be available in select regions starting May 14.

Via the PlayStation Blog, Paul George announced the collaboration and showed a first teaser trailer. The basketball star said he has been a die-hard PlayStation fan his whole life and it is a great honor for him to be able to present the PG5s in the PlayStation 5 colorway.

“Just like the PlayStation 5 console, the PG 5 is my platform to take my game to the next level, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring these two elements together in this new partnership with PlayStation.”

Among others, Yujin Morisawa was responsible for the design of the shoes, which are in the PlayStation 5 colors blue and white. He is the one who also designed the PS5.

Two colorways are available, each with either blue or white as the main color. The heel features the signature PlayStation icons and even the sole is imprinted with the PS5 logo.

The shoes are said to retail for $120.

Gaming & Fashion

It’s not the first time Nike and PlayStation have collaborated. There was already a joint sneaker with none other than Travis Scott for the release of the PS5. The then released Nike Dunk Low is currently sold on StockX for just over 7,000 €.

Gaming and culture are getting closer and closer lately. Be it hiphop labels investing in e-sport organizations or collaborations between the gaming and hiphop worlds. XSET founder and Grammy-nominated producer Clinton Sparks recently spoke about the similarities between gaming and hip-hop.

Highsnobiety just published a white paper on how gaming has become an integral part of the culture.
