Super Bowl commercials – The hidden highlight
The Super Bowl is arguably one of the most important advertising events of the year. The commercials shown reach a live audience of around 800 million people worldwide every year. A thirty-second spot therefore costs companies about five and a half million dollars.
Due to the Corona pandemic, some companies that were considered safe participants in previous years decided not to show spots this year. Among others Coca-Cola, Microsoft and Budweiser announced in advance that they would not produce a commercial video. “For the first time in 37 years, Budweiser isn’t airing a commercial during the Super Bowl. Instead, we’re redirecting our advertising dollars to support COVID-19 vaccines awareness and education.”
Nevertheless, the commercials have become an integral part of the event and many fans are eager to see what the companies have to offer each year. After all, there is no skimping on production costs and a large star lineup. Nowadays, many of these stars are major figures in hiphop culture.
