A$AP Rocky “completely reinvents” the classic Vans slip-on
AWGE Vans
By now, no one can deny the fact that A$AP Rocky is a fashion icon. Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye has now told GQ what his next fashion project in the making is.
Rocky is collaborating with Vans for his own version of their most classic shoe.
The A$AP Rocky x Vans are coming
A$AP Rocky, who recently graced the cover of GQ, didn’t just talk about his brief stint in prison in Sweden for the cover story. He also discussed his upcoming collaboration with Vans.
The iconic skater brand has long become an integral part of the culture. Especially A$AP Rocky, a well-known BMX fan, could be seen rocking Vans quite often in the past.
Now he is about to get his own shoe. He apparently praised it to the magazine as much as if he had completely reinvented the classic slip-on. His Vans are to be extremely exclusive and will probably only be available in very limited quantities; he told GQ.
So far, neither a price nor the release date is known, but they are supposed to be arriving “soon“.
Rocky has already been spotted wearing his own Vans. Photos of the rapper are circulating, showing him wearing what appears to be his own version of the shoe.
A$AP Rocky & shoes
The upcoming Vans are far from the first shoe created by the rapper. Back in 2013, A$AP Rocky collaborated with designer Jeremy Scott and adidas to drop the JS Wings 2.0 “Black Flag”.
Then, just over three years ago, Rocky collaborated with Under Armour for two exclusive colorways of the SKLo (Skate, Rave, Lo).
A$AP Rocky has arrived as far in the fashion world as hardly any other rapper. His daring attitude, his charisma and his eccentricity are classic hiphop attributes that are in high demand in the fashion industry. It is no coincidence that his creative agency AWGE just recently collaborated with Marine Serre, one of the most sought-after brands of the time, for a joint collection.
Recently, the multitalented Rapper also took on the job of CEO of the financial services provider Klarna for a day.
