NEW ENERGY

Week 35 – is this the end of summer already?! Anyway we still out here for the culture: dive into a new exhibition called ‘THE CULTURE’ at the Saint Louis Art Museum with an amazing looking catalogue created by Pacific, re-visit Virgil Abloh’s “FREE GAME” and go start your own brand, gaze upon the golden AP by Matthew Williams or get yourself ready for fashion week with a weird kind of pants by Masayuki Ino.

Let’s get it!

St. Louis Arts Museum: THE CULTURE

The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in The 21st Century opened at St. Louis Art Museum last weekend. The exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of hip hop and examines its resounding impact on contemporary art and culture. The accompanying, amazing catalog, designed by Pacific, brings together the work of nearly 100 artists and brands to explore the last 50 years of hip hop.

Reminder: Virgil Abloh’s ‘FREE GAME’

When Mike Amiri posted this on Instagram again, I felt the urge to remind everyone here as well:

“FREE GAME – A reminder to young designer that a resource site like this exists. Virgil put together the answers to the most commonly asked questions of designers in the early stages of starting a brand.”

ALYX Studio x Audemars Piguet

Damn, what a watch! Audemars Piguet and Matthew Williams debut an official collaborative Alyx Studio Royal Oak. Available in 18k yellow gold, white gold or a unique two-tone version, the five new models — two Royal Oaks, two Royal Oak Offshores and a Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph.

Doublet Bear Carrying Trousers – WTF?!

‘WHAT ARE THOOOOSE?’ Normally you might find something like this for Halloween or the German Carnival, but Masayuki Ino‘s Doublet is identifiable through whimsically futuristic motifs that are jaw-dropping and adventurous. The same can be said for the Japanese brand’s “The Bear Carrying On You” Faux-Fur Trousers, which have just landed on shelves.
