Kendrick’s mega set at Primavera Sound in Barcelona
Last weekend we went to the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona to see some of the greatest acts in one of the greatest festival settings. The show and set that Kendrick pulled off there was out of this world and once again manifested him among the GOATs. Rap-Up documented the set list here, and pgLang posted some fire photos of the show. The moment when Baby Keem came out to perform ‘family ties’ with his brother.. wow. The paintings on stage are all by Henry Taylor.
AwakeNY’s new flag ship store in… New York of course!
Brick and mortar is not dead, when done right. Angelo Baque and his brand AwakeNY opened their new flag ship store in Orchard Street in the lower east side of New York City – and what he and his team did was to create a cultural hub. For people to hang out, to be and experience culture and to provide memorable experiences. Hypebeast did an opening interview with the Creative Director worth reading.
Pharrell’s JOOPITER presents ‘Just Phriends’ with Sarah Andelman
Pharrell’s auction house, JOOPITER, is preparing for its largest sale yet with ‘Colette’ curator Sarah Andelman leading the way. Andelman’s influential impact on fashion, including her close ties with Chanel and support for young artists, makes this upcoming sale of cultural artifacts highly anticipated. And he teased a first massive piece of art in collaboration with Takashi Murakami from 2009.
What the BARBIE movie will sound like…
The BARBIE movie made big headlines with their usage of pink in the film. But what does this kind of film has to do with hip hop? Well, they just announced the soundtrack and it’s a great looking line up! Ice Spice and PinkPantheress of course, but also Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, Khalid and The Kid LAROI among many others. Pretty promising!
Backpack Jacket designed by Roy Michael Treur
Young Dutch designer Roy Michael Treur has created a jacket that might be an instant cop for this fall. This jacket has so much room and pockets that it is a backpack in itself. Or he states it: ‘A waterproof jacket I designed that would be perfect for outdoor activities.’ Check out the video showing all the details.
